Problem Solving and the Scientific Process
kit #100-A
Instead of learning how to solve problems, students are all too often expected to simply “do” activities.
In this creative problem-solving kit, students are presented with a “situation” that requires them to:
♦ Analyze the situation
♦ Identify the problem
♦ Formulate a hypothesis
♦ Conduct experiments to test their hypothesis
The result? Students learn “how to inquire,” not just “do.” Lab activities, suitable for all science curriculum, can be completed in approximately sixty minutes.
- Develop a basic understanding of experimental design
- Develop strategies and define problem definition and data collection
- Form and test hypothesis
- Develop use of controls
