Using this outstanding kit, students view the phases of mitosis in a slide they prepare with scientifically grown onion root tips.
Students will be challenged as they:
♦ Identify the phases of plant mitosis
♦ Observe chromosomal development
♦ Gain hands-on experience with the micro-techniques
♦ Stain and mount their own slides
This activity REQUIRES MICROSCOPES and can be completed in a standard lab period.
- Prepare a squashed stained slide of a root tip
- Observe cells undergoing mitosis
- Gain experience in microtechnique and staining
